Alums, parents, board members and friends of Rock Point School feted retiring Headmaster John Rouleau Saturday afternoon, June 25, 2011, in a tent set up on the Rock Point playing field. The “John-a-Palooza,” in a mixture of humor and deeply felt emotion, recognized and applauded Rouleau’s significant influence on students, staff and the school itself during his 40 years at Rock Point, the last 20 as headmaster.
New Headmaster C.J. Spirito emceed the formal portion of the afternoon, in which Rouleau sat in a rocking chair on a low stage surrounded by objects symbolizing aspects of his tenure, as board members, staff, parents, former students and his predecessor as headmaster, Russell Ellis, paid tribute.
