Rock Point School Graduation is June 9th

Rock Point School invites all to join them for a unique ceremony to honor graduating seniors in the Class of 2012. Presided over by Bishop Tom Ely, this celebration, which begins at 10 a.m. in the Rock Point School Library, is a wonderful and moving culmination to our school year and gives a true glimpse into the strength, love and joy in our community.

The graduation begins with welcoming words from the Head of School, then the floor is turned over to the audience, and anyone can stand up and speak to the graduates and the wider school community. Tissues are liberally provided, as it is a very moving service. Bishop Ely hands over the diplomas when the testimonies are complete, and everyone is invited to join a picnic lunch in front of the school.

For those who have never been to a Rock Point School Graduation, I highly recommend that you attend. It is an awe-inspiring testament to how far our students have come in their lives and to the supportive and engaging program at Rock Point School. I was hired in May of 2004 and invited to attend that year’s graduation to get a sense of the place where I was coming to work and live. I slipped into the back not knowing any of the students at the front of the room and was in tears within five minutes as their parents and staff members talked of the pride and happiness they felt on this most joyous occasion.

Please do feel welcome to join us. We would appreciate you to RSVP so we know how many seats we will need. To do so or for any questions please email me at cblend@rockpoint.org, or call 802-863-1104.
