Diocesan Committee/Board Members to be Elected at 2012 Convention

The November Diocesan Convention will elect members to serve on several boards and committees. Offices open for nomination are listed below. Members of the Diocese are invited to submit nominations to:

BROOKHAVEN TRUSTEES:
Three Members to be elected for 3-year terms expiring 2015
The Brookhaven Board of Trustees has full jurisdiction and authority over the management and operation of the Brookhaven Home and School, including the program, discipline and regulation, and the engagement or dismissal of
faculty and staff.

TITLE IV DISCIPLINARY BOARD (Vermont Members)
Two Clergy, Two Lay to be elected for the January 1, to December 31, 2013 term
The four Vermont members serve under an agreement with the Dioceses of Maine and New Hampshire for joint administration and staffing of matters of clergy discipline under Title IV of the Canons of the General Convention of The Episcopal Church.

OVERSIGHT AND AUDIT COMMITTEE
Two members (I Clergy, 1 Lay) to be elected to 3-year terms, expiring 2015
The Oversight and Audit Committee of three clergy and three lay persons is responsible for implementing and enforcing the audit, financial reporting, funds management and other requirements of diocesan and national canons relating to diocesan and parish financial management. They provide resources and consulting to parishes and diocesan organizations and are responsible for an annual audit of accounts of the Diocese and Trustees.

ROCK POINT BOARD
Three members to be elected to 3-year terms, expiring 2015
The Rock Point Board is responsible for administration and maintenance of the buildings and grounds of Rock Point. The duties include planning for the use, maintenance, management and security of the property and purchasing and contracting for all goods and services.

ROCK POINT SCHOOL TRUSTEES
Four members to be elected to 3-year terms, expiring 2015
The Rock Point School Board of Trustees has full jurisdiction and authority over the management and operations of Rock Point School, including the curriculum, discipline, regulation and the engagement or dismissal of the faculty and staff.

STANDING COMMITTEE
Two members to be elected (1 Clergy, I Lay) to 4-year terms, expiring 2016
The Standing Committee – four clergy and four lay persons – is an advisory committee to the Bishop and acts in the absence of the Bishop as the ecclesiastical authority of the Diocese. The committee must consent to ordinations in the Diocese of Vermont and to Episcopal elections in other dioceses.

TRUSTEES OF THE DIOCESE
One member to be elected to a 7‑year term, expiring 2019
The diocesan Board of Trustees is responsible for receiving, holding and properly disposing of all assets, real and personal, of the Diocese. The Board is owner of all diocesan property and is responsible for management of diocesan investments

VERMONT ECUMENICAL COUNCIL AND BIBLE SOCIETY TRUSTEE
One member to be elected to a 3‑year term, expiring 2015

DI0CESAN COUNCIL
All Mission District Nominating Committees are to report nominees for their Diocesan Council seats (as noted below) to the chair of the Diocesan Nominating Committee (Barbara Hoar) no later than September 7, 2012.

The Bishop and the Council exercise the executive power of the Diocese between conventions and are responsible for the promotion of the mission of the church. The Council, in consultation with the Treasurer of the Diocese, prepares a comprehensive budget each year for submission to the annual Convention. Three members are elected by each Mission District, and there shall be at least one Lay and one Clergy member from each Mission District serving on Diocesan Council.

Mission District #1 to nominate and elect:
One Lay member for a 3‑year term, expiring 2015
District #1 Nominating Chair:  The Rev. David Veale

Mission District #2 to nominate and elect:
One Lay member for a 3‑year term, expiring 2015
One Lay OR One Clergy member for an unexpired term to 2013
District #2 Nominating Chair:  The Rev. Rick Swanson

Mission District #3 to nominate and elect:
One Lay OR One Clergy member for a 3‑year term, expiring 2015
District #3 Nominating Chair:  Joyce Nagle

Mission District #4 to nominate and elect:
One Lay member for a 3‑year term, expiring 2015
District #4 Nominating Chair:  The Rev. Alan Kittelson

Mission District #5 to nominate and elect:
One Clergy member for a 3‑year term, explrlng 2015
One Lay OR One Clergy member for an unexpired term to 2013
District #5 Nominating Chair:  James Carter
