Episcopal clergy in Vermont participated in the innovative pilot project 2ndT@2 this past spring. The series now returns for the fall, starting in October, at the request of participants.
Designed for clergy who serve congregations, 2ndT@2 is a series of one-hour web conferences held each month on (you guessed it) the second Tuesday at 2 PM. Guest presenters offer context and varying perspectives on shifting roles for clergy, new models for mission, and the redevelopment of congregational ministries taking place throughout the wider church. In the mix of presentation, discussion, and question/answer are practical examples of what is working as well as challenges and failures.
During the pilot run of 2ndT@2, clergy had the opportunity to use the web conferencing system, some people trying this medium for the first time. The system allows flexibility of location, ease of scheduling, and involves no travel—good stewardship of many resources for the clergy and, by effect, for the congregations.
Guest presenters for this fall’s series include Professor Fredrica Harris Thompsett, Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, MA and The Rev. Thomas Brackett, Redevelopment Minister, The Episcopal Church.
Clergy received details for 2ndT@2 on e-mail. The project was designed by and is being coordinated by Susan Ohlidal, Canon for Ministry Development, sohlidal@dioceseofvermont.org .
