Dear Friends,
I have just spoken with Bishop Ely who is on the road. In light of the tragic shooting that took place in Newtown, Connecticut today at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, he shares with you the initial statement from the Bishops of Connecticut. See the link below.
Bishop Ely spoke with Bishop Curry earlier today as he was driving to Newtown and assured him of our prayers. Bishop Ely asks that we mourn with those who are in the midst of this tragedy. We weep for the children and adults who have been killed. Our hearts go out to the students, families, teachers and workers at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, the town of Newtown and all of Connecticut. Please hold this tragedy and all its victims, including the shooter, in your prayers and especially in worship this Sunday.
At this point, the details are still unfolding and as Bishop Ely hears more from our colleagues in Connecticut, he will pass on the information. As many of you know, Connecticut is the state of Bishop Ely’s birth, residence and ministry until being called to serve as Bishop of Vermont.
