Craig Smith Appointed Rock Point Development Minister

The Rev. Craig Smith appointed by the Bishop as Rock Point Development Minster

I am pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev. Craig Smith as Rock Point Development Minister, effective January 9, 2014. Craig recently retired as Rector from Trinity Church, Shelburne and was looking for a way to devote time and energy to advance the vision and ministry of Rock Point, a place he has known and loved since birth.

The timing of his retirement from Trinity coincided well with the Rock Point Board’s increased desire and readiness to focus attention on the development of Rock Point as a center of Christian spirituality, life-long learning and environmental sustainability, and my own ongoing commitment to the future of Rock Point.

In this two-year part-time position as an adjunct member of the diocesan Ministry Support Team, Craig will work with the Rock Point Board and others to implement the Board’s vision, develop partnerships, increase capacities for implementing priorities, address the future of the Bishop Booth Conference Center and support the Alleluia Fund and other efforts to bring much needed financial resources to this ministry.

Funding for this position is provided from funds available to the Bishop as part of the Virginia Hunt Trust annual grant. By devoting funds to advance this work, it is my belief that now is the right time for a determined and well-focused emphasis on implementing the vision for Rock Point and our stewardship of this important diocesan ministry and resource. I believe that Craig is the right person at the right time to help move all this forward. I hope you will support him in this work.
