Integrity Vermont held its annual St. Aelred’s Eucharist at Church of Our Saviour, Mission Farm, Killington on February 20. The Rev. Canon Lee Allison Crawford gave a moving and instructive sermon about Aelred and relational love and the Rev. J. Stannard Baker acted as deacon. The Eucharist was followed by dinner at Heminway Guesthouse at Mission Farm. A group of Integrity members spent the night at the guest house, sharing a lovely meal.
After dinner, those present shared stories of relationship and talked about how the church can and should support the new and emerging relational trends of its members. Stannard Baker and Bishop Ely are members of the Pastoral Subcommittee of the Taskforce on the Study of Marriage, a General Convention Taskforce that will report back to the next General Convention to be held in Austin, Texas in 2018. The charge of the Taskforce is to report to General Convention on: new trends in marriage and committed relationship; how the church is reporting and responding to these trends; results of monitoring same gender marriages in The Episcopal Church; and to collect and share stories of relationships.
