On Monday, March 14, Christ Church, Bethel hosted parishioners from eight Episcopal and United Church of Christ congregations to discuss refugee resettlement in Vermont. The group heard from Laurie Stavrand of the Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program (VRRP) and Alam, a 2015 refugee from Iraq. The presentations included information about what refugees go through when coming into the United States as well as how the Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program assists refugees when they arrive in Vermont. Programs offered by VRRP include assisting with living arrangements, jobs, and learning English.
If anyone would like more information about refugee resettlement in Vermont, or would like to work in conjunction with Christ Church, Bethel in their refugee outreach ministry, they can contact Christ Church parishioners John Hartman or Kathy Hartman.
