Episcopal Network for Stewardship: 2017 TENS Conference ‘Journey to Generosity’ Begins May 18
Celebrate the new life of Easter by attending the TENS 2017 Conference, “Journey to Generosity.” To register, go to Journey to Generosity Conference online. It’s a perfect way to get ready for the season of Pentecost and your church’s coming Pledge Campaign. The Conference will gather at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Minneapolis, MN.
Three outstanding speakers will challenge and inspire conference attendees: The Rev. Cn. J Edwin Bacon, the Rev. Winnie Varghese, and Mr. Dave Toycen.
The Pre-conference convenes on Thursday, May 18, with a day-long session on “Transformational Leadership Teams: Unlocking the Potential of Your Congregation.” The day is designed to help leaders build and lead teams that challenge and love each other while empowering and mobilizing your congregation.
On Friday, May 19, the Conference will kick off with a Eucharist featuring the Very Rev. Paul Lebens-Englund, Dean of St. Mark’s Cathedral as our preacher. The first keynote presenter will be Dave Toycen, President (retired) of World Vision, Canada, the largest non-governmental organizaion in Canada. Toycen has traveled the world helping the poorest of the poor and will speak on, “The Power of Generosity.”
Friday afternoon will be filled with exceptional workshops on “Using Digital Media to Promote Generosity and Growth,” “The Spirituality of Philanthropy,” insights on “Talking About Money,” and “Holy Currencies/Stewardship 365.” Each workshop will be presented twice on Friday afternoon.
Friday will be capped off with our second keynote presenter, the Rev. Winnie Varghese, Director of Justice and Reconciliation, Trinity Church, Wall Street. She will challenge and inspire us with her topic, “Generosity Empowers Community.”
The conference continues Saturday morning, May 20, with another four outstanding workshops, “Preaching Generosity,” “Inspiring Legacy Giving,” “Stewardship Vitality and Speaking the Truth,” and “Gearing Up for the Annual Pledge Campaign.” Each workshop will be presented twice on Saturday morning.
The final keynote presenter will be the Rev. Cn. J. Edwin Bacon, Rector Emeritus, All Saints Episcopal Church, Pasadena, CA. His topic is, “The Transformational Journey to Generosity.” As rector of All Saints, Bacon called the congregation into greater generosity, loving forgiveness, open hearted welcoming and putting deep faith into action. His presentation is sure to recharge our hearts for the work ahead.
