Excitement is building as Province I (the Episcopal dioceses of New England) prepares for the first-ever spiritual pilgrimage along the Connecticut River, from northern New Hampshire to the Atlantic Ocean. Aptly titled “River of Life,” the 40-day pilgrimage highlights the river’s ecological, social, historical, economical, and spiritual significance. The Rt. Rev. Thomas C. Ely will be participating in scheduled events, and all who are interested in a sacred relationship with the natural world are invited to join.

On Sunday, June 18, Bishop Ely will be preaching at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Hanover, NH

From June 22-25, the Bishop and wife Ann will be paddling a stretch of river from Springfield to Brattleboro, VT.

On Sunday, June 18, the Bishop will be preaching at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Hanover, NH—one of many shore-based events hosted by local churches and conservation organizations in conjunction with the pilgrimage. And from June 22-25, the Bishop and wife Ann Ely will be paddling a stretch of river from Springfield to Brattleboro, Vermont. Registrations for additional paddling segments are being filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested participants may sign up at http://kairosearth.org/paddle-the-river/.

Friends are also encouraged to be “Pilgrims in Prayer” by participating in daily spiritual readings and lessons provided by Kairos Earth, which focus on the health and conservation of the flora and fauna of the Connecticut River.

“River of Life”is hosted by The Episcopal Churches of New England, the New England Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and Kairos Earth, in partnership with local, statewide, and regional organizations along the River. For a detailed list of towns and events, visit the River of Life website at http://kairosearth.org/river/.
