Migrant Justice Urges Allies to Write Letters for Farmworkers’ Dignity

Migrant Justice Urges Allies to Write Letters for Farmworkers’ Dignity

Let’s uphold the dignity of dairy farmworkers in Vermont! Migrant Justice farmworkers are urging Ben & Jerry’s CEO Jostein Solheim to sign the Milk with Dignity Contract, which has been designed to protect human rights in their supply chain. Allies are asked to assist this effort by participating in a letter-writing campaign, now through Sept. 24, 2017, using one of the following methods:

  • Visit https://actionnetwork.org/letters/ben-jerrys-stand-for-farmworkers-rights. Enter your contact information, and complete the letter-writing form. (The entire process takes about three minutes.)
  • Or, send a hand-written letter to Ben & Jerry’s Inc., 30 Community Drive, Suite #1, South Burlington, VT 05403, Attention: Jostein Solheim, CEO. You are welcome to use the following template:

Dear Mr. Solheim:

The people who work on dairy farms throughout the Northeast toil with dangerous, backbreaking conditions for grueling hours and low pay. Two years ago, Ben & Jerry’s agreed to do something about it – and committed to join a landmark program to stop abusive, inhumane treatment of the people who work for their dairy suppliers. Two years later, the company hasn’t joined or implemented Milk With Dignity at all. Ben & Jerry’s cares about what we think. The company can do the right thing if enough of us speak up. This letter represents my petition to Ben & Jerry’s urging them to make good on their public promise.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
