Concert Across America Asks: Will You Sing One Song for Peace?

Hello Amazing #ConcertAcrossAmerica Supporters!

First of all, we hope and pray that all of your friends and families in the paths of Harvey and Irma, as well as those impacted by the West Coast wildfire, are safe and out of harms way.

We also want to do a special heartfelt shout-out to our friends in Guam who have jumped on our peace train and will participate in our global sing-a-long later this month.

Speaking of which…

WILL YOU SING ONE SONG FOR PEACE?

In just a few weeks, we will be turning up the music to drown out the war-provoking and hateful rhetoric that has filled the news in the last several months.  So far we have more than 50 full-fledge concerts being planned the week of September 21-24.  And, more than 150 sign-ups to participate in the world record challenge for the global sing-a-long in which we all sing the same, exact song for peace.

WHAT SONG YOU ASK?

Any song you want.  However, as a show of unity and to be counted officially for the world record, please consider singing Nothing More— a song that speaks to the need for treating each other with love and respect.  Lyrics/sheet music to Nothing Morecan be found in the sign-up sheet here: concertacrossamerica.org/record and in the toolkit below.

NEED INSPIRATION?

Check out this awesome rendition of Nothing Morefrom the Harlem Gospel Teens. So far weve had submissions from a city councilman in Tucson to the Cape Cod Grandmothers Against Gun Violence.

WHEN DO WE SING IT?

It’s ok to record your version of Nothing Morewhenever it is convenient for you or your choir. However, plan to start posting it on social media Thursday, September 21st (International Peace Day) and Sunday, September 24th, using the hashtag #ConcertAcrossAmerica.

HAPPY ROSH HASHANAH! (Sept. 20-22)

For our Jewish friends, please consider recording Nothing Morenow and sending your video to us at RememberSept24@gmail.comWell post it on social media on your behalf.

WHERE IS THE #ConcertAcrossAmerica?

Anywhere you are.  From Minneapolis to Paris. From Nazareth, St. Thomas to Calabasas, California. Let’s fill up that map! Check out www.ConcertAcrossAmerica.org to see it your city or town is represented.

WHAT CONSTITUTES A #ConcertAcrossAmerica?

It can be as simple as videotaping yourself or your choir singing our one suggested song, “Nothing More.”  Or, it can be a full-fledged musical extravaganza. We just ask that whatever you do, please keep it meaningful and manageable. If Nothing Moredoesnt fit with your musical program, Nothing Moreis not required! If you are having a concert and the details are not on our map, please fill out the Google form

WHAT’S THE PURPOSE OF THE #ConcertAcrossAmerica?

Simply put, its a low barrier entry way to introduce new advocates to the gun violence prevention (GVP) movement as well as a beautiful way to celebrate the peace activists in us and all of our communities.

CAN WE TALK?

Yes! Next coordinatorscall is Thursday September 14th, at 6pm EST/3pm PST. Call in to(605)-472-5814, Passcode: 102-666-389(Our apologies for failing to notify you that last months call on the 24th was canceled.  Let’s blame it on the eclipse!)
