Diocesan Financial Oversight and Audit Committee Seeks One Clergy, One Lay Member
By Susan McGarry
The Diocesan Financial Oversight and Audit Committee is looking for a few good people (one clergy person, and one lay person).
This committee does unseen but important work to help our congregations fulfill their canonical audit requirements and to improve our financial controls and practices throughout the diocese. In addition, the committee provides guidance for the diocesan audit process and educational materials to help make this whole process easier for the participating congregations.

Each member of the committee receives 6-7 audits to review from congregations of all sizes throughout the diocese. While many people travel to the monthly meetings, it is possible to join by a conference call. If you have never done this before, you can learn all you need to know quite quickly.
Lay people: This committee provides good service at the diocesan level particularly for people who have been involved with their own audit committees.
Clergy people: Clergy should be involved in the governance of the diocese. This committee provides important work that can mostly be accomplished at your own desk.
