Photos and Video Excerpts from the March 14 Day of Lamentation
On a snowy March 14, 2018, people filtered in and out of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Burlington to reflect on and protest gun violence of all kinds. The Day of Lamentation was one of many events held across the nation in solidarity with Bishops United Against Gun Violence.
Among the presenters were Bishop Ely, who offered an opening reflection in the 9 AM hour; the Rev. Kim Hardy, Priest in Partnership with St. James’ Church, Essex Junction, who rendered a musical reflection during the 2 PM hour (view the video clip); Sister Pat McKittrick, Sisters of Providence, and Roy V. Hill II, member of College Street Congregational Church and charter/ founding member of New Alpha Missionary Baptist Church, during the 3 PM hour; and Burlington High School Student Allie Brown (view the video clip) and the Rev. Arnold I. Thomas, Pastor of Jericho’s Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, during the 5 PM hour.
