From the BDNC: A Time of Prayerful Discernment
The Bishop Discernment & Nominating Committee (BDNC) has now completed 35 of 37 Holy Listening Sessions throughout the state! We are grateful for the welcome and thoughtfulness participants have given us in their honest, heartfelt comments. This month the BDNC is working to discern and distill all we have heard. Each of us is reading through the notes from each listening session, then summarizing major themes, guided and centered by the following prayer, written by our chaplain, the Rev. Carole Wageman.
Gracious God, give me the insight to receive what the people of this congregation (or diocesan committee, board, or group) yearn for. Help me enter into their story that I might listen between the lines. Help me learn from them and help me hold them with your loving compassion so that many voices and many hopes might begin to sing a new song together as one hymn of praise. Amen.
The sum of this information will be the pulse of the profile which will describe to interested candidates your experiences, hopes and dreams for the Episcopal Church in Vermont. Thank you!
Blessings and appreciation,
