Newsbyte: Vermont Judiciary Seeks Caring Advocates for Children
The Vermont Judiciary is seeking volunteer guardians ad litem (GAL) to advocate for children involved in court cases. A judge appoints a GAL in child abuse or neglect cases and sometimes in delinquency and other cases. The GAL makes recommendations to the court for the child’s best interests in and out of court until the case is over. Joan Lawrence-Studebaker, a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, White River Junction, and a GAL in Washington, Orange and Windsor counties, stresses the urgency of the need and urges those interested to review the complete program details.
