The Pittsfield service will feature the combined choirs of churches throughout the Berkshires and the Pioneer Valley. Doors will open at noon. In Worcester, there will be an outdoor pre-revival gathering at Fuller Park from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. A procession of clergy and laity from Fuller Park to the Hanover Theater will begin at 4:30 PM. The event at the Hanover Theater will feature music, testimonies of faith, and Bishop Curry’s dynamic preaching. Doors will open at 4:00 PM. (Members of the press may obtain press passes at the door.)
When asked about Bishop Curry’s second visit to Western Massachusetts, Bishop Doug Fisher talked about Curry’s gift as preacher. “Fifteen year ago, my son went to a national gathering of Episcopal youth. He came back and said ‘Dad, I just heard the greatest preacher. Michael Curry. Ever hear of him?’ I did and have been blessed to know him as a fellow bishop these last six years and have heard him preach great sermons numerous times. Michael is authentic. He lives what he preaches. Revival is a holy opportunity to revive our souls and our communities.”
The theme of the revival is Rekindling Hope, Sharing Light, Loving Jesus.
As described on The Episcopal Church website, an Episcopal revival “is a dedicated series of gatherings that combine inspiring worship, compelling teaching, honest faith-sharing, intensified prayer, and some form of engagement with the mission of God–all for the sake of the spiritual renewal and transformation of people and of society.” The theme of the Western Massachusetts revival is Rekindling Hope, Sharing Light, Loving Jesus.
