‘All God’s Critters’ Are Invited to St. Mary’s Wilmington, October 7
WILMINGTON, VT – St. Mary’s in the Mountains Episcopal Church, 13 Main St., Wilmington, VT, invites all who live with, care for, or love our four-legged, two-legged, hooved, furred, finned, feathered, or other animal companions to join in a celebration of all of God’s creation on Sunday, October 7 at 10:00 AM. In what has become a joyous annual event, the Red Doors of St. Mary’s will open to invite our neighbors to join us in a prayerful and musical service. We also invite all to bring along their animal family members and companions to the service.
Our service will include readings and a homily, all in the spirit of St. Francis. Special music will be part of our service, including some fun tunes in which everyone can join. We strongly encourage our animal friends to be part of the celebration, and participants are invited to bring their pets (leashed or caged), a photo of a pet (whether alive or departed), or a stuffed animal representing a loved animal. They will all be blessed during the service. Donations will be given to the Windham County Humane Society, which for many decades has worked to ensure the safety and well-being of animals and their relationships with people through adoption, education, and promotion of animal welfare, and by striving to help pets and pet owners in need.
