Bishop Search Update: What Happens Next?
The deadline for the application process for the next Bishop of Vermont is this Friday, November 16. Since the special convention at which we’ll elect our next bishop isn’t until May, you may be wondering what happens next and how we’ll get from here to there.
The special website for the search for the 11th Bishop of Vermont has a detailed timeline that outlines the steps and events. You can visit https://www.bishopsearchvt.org/timeline to see the big picture.
For the next few months, things might seem quiet, but significant work will be happening behind the scenes.
For the next few months, things might seem a bit quiet, but significant work will be happening behind the scenes. The Bishop Discernment & Nominating Committee (BDNC) will “read, mark, learn and inwardly digest” all the application packets as we quietly and confidentially discern. Please hold us in your prayers for our work during this time. During this time the Transition Committee will also be hard at work, planning for the convention, for the Walkabout events prior to it, as well as the consecration.
Please watch The Mountain for regular updates. As the details are finalized and these events get closer, there will be opportunities for more volunteers to get involved.
In the meantime, if you have questions, please reach out to the BDNC (BDNC@diovermont.org), Transition Committee (TC@diovermont.org) or Standing Committee (PresidentSC@diovermont.org).
