Bishop Transition: January with the Bishop Discernment & Nominating Committee
With Advent and Christmas behind us, the Bishop Discernment & Nominating Committee (BDNC) is again in full swing amid a busy month! We have divided into teams for conducting Zoom interviews with our bishop applicants. Each interview is expected to take 60-75 minutes. The interviews are being recorded so all members of the BDNC can view each interview. We are also doing extensive reference calls on all the applicants we are interviewing. Applicants have each listed six to twelve references. Thus, when we are not conducting or viewing interviews, we will be on the phone talking with references! Following this phase, we will choose the applicants who will move forward to our discernment retreat in March.
Though we cannot yet share specifics about our applicants, we want you to know how inspiring and exciting it is for the BDNC to be at this point in the bishop search process. We are working hard and faithfully on behalf of the Episcopal Church in Vermont! Please hold us and our applicants in your prayers as our journey of mutual discernment deepens.
