Convention Recap

The Annual Convention of The Episcopal Church in Vermont took place on October 26 & 27 at the Hilton Burlington. Our special guest was the Rev. Canon Stephanie Spellers, one of the Episcopal Church’s leading thinkers and consultants around 21st century ministry and mission and Canon to the Presiding Bishop for Evangelism, Reconciliation, and Creation Care. Spellers is co-author of The Episcopal Way: Church’s Teachings for a Changing World Series (Volume 1) and author of Radical Welcome: Embracing God, The Other and the Spirit of Transformation. She teaches and directs programs in mission, reconciliation and formation at General Theological Seminary in New York City; serves as a senior consultant for the Center for Progressive Renewal, an ecumenical consulting and training group; and is a contributor to the Work of the People’s Transforming Through Love video series, a three-part series on participating in God’s dream of wholeness. (Adapted from The Work of the People.) Videos of the Rev. Spellers’ convention presentations are available below.
In preparation for the Convention, Bishop Thomas Ely encouraged the people of the Diocese to read Speaking Our Faith: Equipping the Next Generations to Tell the Old, Old Story by Kit Carlson. The book can be obtained through Hopkins Bookshop at Trinity located in Shelburne, VT, and a variety of online retailers, including Church Publishing.
