Sweet Spring at Rock Point School!

By Molly Huddle Coffey

March at Rock Point School means sugaring! Students are learning about the process, history, and tradition of maple sugaring and its importance to the Vermont economy. In the afternoon, students are hanging buckets, collecting sap, stacking wood, and using the evaporator in the sugar shack.

Starting in late March, Rock Point School students will be giving tours of the sugaring operation to school groups in the area, teaching young children about the sugaring process and serving up some sweet treats.

On April 6th, the 8th annual Maple bRUNch will happen at the school. This fun event begins with a 5k race through the property. with a maple themed brunch starting at 9 a.m. If running isn’t your thing, you can still come enjoy some pancakes. Join us for this awesome tradition and taste some of the syrup made on the property! For more information and to register, visit
