GRAND ISLE, VT – Around the country, places of worship are suffering from declining attendance, limited resources, and the challenges of maintaining what are often large and complicated buildings. The Preservation Trust of Vermont recognizes the importance of preserving these iconic community resources and believe that through partnership preservation can be accomplished. On May 20-21, the organization is hosting a Churches and Sacred Places Retreat to discuss funding opportunities, ways to attract new partners, and strategies to better maintain historic places of worship.
The retreat is designed to be interactive and project-specific. Groups will be asked to focus on an issue or challenge that once addressed, would help move their respective projects to the next level. Participants will be acquainted with others who are working on similar types of projects, along with potential funders and technical assistance providers.
Space is limited to around 20 participants with a limited number of single rooms, so reservations are required and should be made as early as possible. The 2019 costs are $95 for a shared room and $125 for a single room. The registration deadline is Monday, May 13. Register. For more information visit http://www.ptvermont.org.
