Wilmington, VT – On Tuesday, July 23, at 6:00 p.m., 25 Israeli, Palestinian, and American teens participating in the Jerusalem Peacebuilders Leadership Institute return to the Red Door Concert series at St. Mary’s in the Mountains, Wilmington, Vermont, for an evening of conversation, questions, answers, and music. The evening will be a unique opportunity to learn about peace-building in the Middle East from young leaders who live the conflict and work for peace. Along with a panel discussion and fielding questions, music and poetry from the teens and from St. Mary’s musicians will be featured.
Jerusalem Peacebuilders is an interfaith, non-profit organization whose mission is to unite Israeli, Palestinian, and American young adults, and to provide them with opportunities, relationships, and skills they need to become future leaders for peace in the global community. Founders, the Rev. Nicholas and Dorothy Porter, live in Brattleboro, where the first program began with 11 teens in 2011. This summer, over 125 teens and adults will participate in five programs in Vermont, Connecticut, Texas, and England. A passion for peace drives JPB’s mission; partnerships power its program.
The program will feature conversations and discussions by JPB Leadership Institute participants. Interspersed will be poetry, and musical offerings by JPB teens as well as by Valley Voices and St. Mary’s parishioners. After the formal event, all are invited to a reception, where everyone can meet and chat with our friends from Jerusalem.
St. Mary’s Red Door concerts are offered four times each year, and include classical and jazz concerts, celebrations of Spring in Vermont, and the annual Red Door Community Carol Sing. Each concert highlights and benefits a local charity.
The event will be at 13 E. Main Street in Wilmington, VT. Admission is by free-will donation, with all proceeds donated to Jerusalem Peacebuilders and its programs.
