Please Contribute to the Gift of a Pectoral Cross for the Bishop-elect

Now Accepting Online Contributions

Dear Laypeople of The Episcopal Church in Vermont,

Part of the consecration liturgy involves vesting a new bishop with the symbols of episcopal ministry. Gifts of the bishop’s ring (with the seal of the Diocese of Vermont), pectoral cross, crozier, mitre, and other vestments will be given to the Rev. Shannon MacVean-Brown when she becomes our next bishop on September 28. Plans are underway to source these from Vermont artists including a woodworker, metalworker, vestment designer, and jeweler.

We now invite you, the lay people of The Episcopal Church in Vermont, to give the pectoral cross. Designed in consultation with the Bishop-elect, it will be created by Burlington Jewelry Designer Connie Coleman. The pectoral cross is worn by bishops not just in the liturgy, but also in the course of their daily work as a symbol of their office both to the Church and the world.

Please consider contributing to the cost of this gift in the next few weeks.
