Transition Committee Announces Ticket Process for Consecration

Please read this announcement carefully before reserving a ticket.

The Transition Committee is pleased to invite the people of the Episcopal Church in Vermont to reserve a ticket for the consecration service on September 28, 2019, at the Ira Allen Chapel on the campus of the University of Vermont in Burlington.

We encourage you to consider organizing a watch party for those who cannot or do not want to make the trip to Burlington. There will be a professional broadcast available online. The link will be on the diocesan website here: https://diovermont.org/bishop-transition/

A special note about parishioners with no Internet access: Please offer to assist your fellow parishioners who would like a ticket but do not have Internet access. You will be able to reserve and print a ticket on their behalf.

The following people do NOT need to reserve a ticket (because seats have already been reserved for them): members of the clergy, anyone in the procession, ushers, and members of the choir.

More than 500 seats are still available in these three options for tickets:

  1. The main floor of the Ira Allen Chapel
  2. A lecture hall in the basement of Ira Allen Chapel
  3. An overflow space in the Davis Campus Center

Attendees in the overflow spaces will be able to participate via a live broadcast and receive communion. Everyone is invited to the reception that will follow in the Davis Campus Center. There is no cost for the tickets but they are required.

Parishioners may reserve tickets in any of the three spaces. In other words, the overflow tickets are available simultaneously with the tickets on the main floor of the chapel. For a variety of reasons, people may find the overflow locations more desirable than the main floor of the chapel. It should be noted that the overflow spaces will be air conditioned (the chapel is not), have more comfortable seating (the chapel has wooden pews), and will have easier access to restrooms during the nearly three-hour service. The space in the Davis Center is the option that requires the least amount of walking.

Other important considerations: The doors will open at 9:15 a.m., and everyone must be seated by 10:15 a.m. The processions begin at 10:30 a.m. During that time, in order to protect the integrity of the processions, the doors will be closed and there will be no entry to the main floor of the chapel. In short: please plan to arrive early. Details about parking and walk times are available online at https://diovermont.org/consecration-parking-overview. The service will last more than two hours. The reception will be in the Davis Campus Center, about a 5-minute walk from the chapel.

If you have any questions, please contact the Rev. Todd McKee, chair of the Transition Committee, at TC@diovermont.org or 603-667-5458.

The tickets can be reserved through the link below which will bring you to Eventbrite. Please read the information and then click the green “Register” button. A window will pop up with the three options mentioned earlier. Please choose the number of tickets that are need and then click the “Checkout” button. On the following page please list a name for each ticketholder. When you complete the process please print the tickets and bring them to the consecration:
