BURLINGTON, VT – Join us for an evening and a day of silent contemplation interspersed with meditations led by Bob Thiefels. The theme for this year’s Advent Retreat is Seeing with the Heart. The event will commence from Friday, December 13 at 4:00 p.m. until Saturday, December 14 at 4:00 pm.
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly
What is essential is invisible to the eye
The retreat facilitator, Robert Thiefels, will explore the Advent themes of metanoia (going beyond the heart mind into the larger heart mind); receptivity (Let what you have said be done to me, Luke 1:38), and reflection (…Pondered them in her heart, Luke 2:19) grounded in a heart practice. The meditations will be framed with centering prayer, sacred dance and chant, worship and free time. Participants will be drawing on work by Cynthia Borgeault and Gregg Braden’s How to Harmonize Heart and Brain.
Friday – Register, supper, first meditation, Great Silence begins
Saturday AM – Morning prayer, breakfast, second meditation, free time
PM – Lunch, third meditation, free time, worship (including fourth meditation)
