You are invited to
A Truth & Reconciliation Eucharist
On March 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at
Trinity Episcopal Church
85 West Street
Rutland, Vermont 05701
At this gathering we will acknowledge the brokenness in our community that has resulted from the tension between the 2023 Standing Committee and Bishop Shannon that was identified in the recent Mission Leadership Review. This tension has caused conflict and a lack of trust. Some of our relationships are damaged and in need of repair.
During our time together, we will seek a shared understanding of what has happened and seek reconciliation within the diocese. All parish, mission and diocesan leaders are encouraged to attend, and everyone is welcome. Our day together will be in the service of building unity in our diocese, working together to put our trust in God, healing and strengthening our relationships so we can more fully participate in God’s mission in Vermont.
The shape of the day will incorporate the elements of the Eucharist, as we gather; listen for God’s word and seek God’s truth; become reconciled to God at the table; and are sent into the world formed anew. This event will be facilitated by associates from the Kaleidoscope Institute and will include clearly defined guidelines and a process for our time together. Participants will be equipped with skills that will help us move forward with clarity and hope.
Register here to attend and bring your own lunch. The deadline for ordering lunch was March 8.
At this gathering we will not dwell in shame or blame, and we will not solve all the challenges before us. Rather, we will listen deeply to one another, welcoming every voice and trusting God, who made a way for us in the wilderness.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalm 51:10
