Dear People of God in the Diocese of Vermont,
In just a few hours, our Lenten fast will end as we renew our Baptismal Covenant during the Great Vigil of Easter. We are buried with Christ by Baptism into his death and raised with him to newness of life, as the liturgy tells us. And so we begin the Easter season by promising that we will, with God’s help, continue in our lives of faith.
As we renew our baptismal promises, we commit ourselves once again to proclaiming God’s word and serving God’s people. As I make these promises, I will hold all of you in my heart and ask God’s blessing on us and our ministry here in Vermont. May we all proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ, this Easter and always.
