Trinity Episcopal Church
85 West Street, Rutland, Vermont
The Western Star is an epic poem with songs celebrating the season of Epiphany and the return of the light. This event will celebrate the New Year, winter and Epiphany. Freewill offering gratefully accepted.
And so the ageing year began to die,
And each cold morn the sun grew later still,
And each lamented eve more heavy-lidded
Fell back beyond the wise king’s earthly realm.
Until, that is, one frigid, glassy night…
A solo, storytelling performance in poetry and song (75-minute running time), The Western Star evokes a meditative, liminal atmosphere through the rhythms of language and flickering candlelight. The poem is a celebration of light in darkness, the turning of the seasons, and the ever-renewing hope of Epiphany. Come join Trinity Episcopal Church in making the journey of the Three Kings an unforgettably moving community tradition.
