The Liturgy Commission of the Diocese of Vermont will offer a 4-session Morning Prayer leadership training course Tuesday evenings, January 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. on Zoom.
This course is open to those who have been recommended by their priest or, in congregations with no priest, their senior warden. Congregations are encouraged to send teams of at least two people when possible, and to consider sending younger leaders, including teenagers, who show promise in leadership. Recommendations should be sent Kathy Torrisi by December 15.
The purpose of the course is to include more lay leaders in liturgical leadership and to support those who are expected to lead worship regularly. Participants will develop familiarity with the history of Morning Prayer, the Book of Common Prayer, and Enriching Our Worship; gain understanding of the rubrics and learn how to plan worship; develop comfort leading worship by practicing with others; and understand the ministry of a worship leader within a congregation.
