Grace Church in Sheldon and St. Luke’s in St. Albans have formed the newest constellation in the Diocese of Vermont, pledging to share clergy and collaborate on mission.
The Rev. Darcey Mercier will serve as priest-in-charge for both congregations. Mercier is a 2022 graduate of Seminary of the Southwest, and was sponsored for ordination by St. Michael’s, Brattleboro.
“So many people have worked really hard to make this happen and I am so grateful that I get to be a part of this newly forming constellation,” Mercier says. “I can’t wait to see how God will bring about continued transformation and what we will be able to do with our larger communities.
“St. Luke’s has been without a priest for almost eight years, so we are not only excited to have a priest-in-charge with Darcey, but also excited about the opportunities that lie ahead through the constellation and collaboration with Grace Church in Sheldon,” St. Luke’s senior warden, Emily O’Connor, says.
The two congregations’ vestries will meet together for the first time in late April. “We are just starting to get to know each other,” Grace’s senior warden, Beth Crane, says. “We are really looking forward to meeting together.”
